"The best they've ridden on" was how a number of riders described the new
"All weather surface at Limerick Racecourse" when it opened in November 2000".
Local Trainer Andrew McNamara was one of the first to send his horses
out around the mile and a quarter training gallop.
He was soon followed by a number of other trainers including Michael Hourigan
who has brought Dorans Pride among his string.
Eric McNamara, Charlie Swan Billy, Flavin and
Annette McMahon
all put horses out with a host of other trainers, resulting in over hundred
horses going around the track weekly.

A mixture of sand, rubber and coated in Petroleum Jelly
the Eurotrack surface itself is versatile enough to
run as good or soft going to suit allcomers and able to stand almost
continuous use without the need to till or roll it to keep it right.
The Gallop is open six days a week from 8 a.m - 2. p.m. and is just £20 per horse.
